Usual situation with having a new member of a family is that parents no longer head to the gym or any of their usual recreation. This mistake is unfortunately very often made also as they believe that being active comes naturally to their children, so they spend most of their time calming them. For sure children were more active at least physically before LCD equipment became the main babysitter. Not mentioning other stuff as children grow up such as mobile phones, computers, tablets and this list just keeps getting bigger. Of course, nobody says this should not be included in their lives because it is impossible, but the solution is not to bond with your child on a minimum level.
Mom’s activity level is the main impact on how active their children will be. Most of the times moms are persons beside their children. Main health problem today if all humanity is obesity where children are also included. Not only activity will eliminate that but also help to develop strong muscles, good coordination and prevent that your kid becomes a couch potato. Not mentioning mental condition, hormone levels, and prevention of cardiovascular acute problems for both sides, mums, and kids. Exercise also encourages the brain to work by multiplying nerve cells and strengthening their interconnections.
Most of the research give same results. More active mother is more activity will children do. Researchers hope that these studies will make mothers more aware of the general problem today and that is how their kids spend more and more time in front of the computer or TV.
Also for mothers is very important to understand the fact that with their own exercise time they don’t take some “me” time and feel guilty about it. There is always a solution to many exercise programs and groups that involve your children too.
Of course, there are always many solutions you can do spending time with your kid at home or in nature. Bike riding and scooting is something any kid and parent can learn. Trampoline jumping is one of the best ideas for hyperactive kids. Jumping is lots and lots of fun despite all accidents you hear that may happen. It is overblown in many cases. Hiking and hill climbing is an excellent choice for outdoor activity as well playing in the park with other kids while also improving social skills.
Remember all this activity should represent not just a “must do” thing for both sides because it will become just harder in time to keep it regular. You can’t expect from your child to spend 30 minutes on treadmill or elliptical. Encourage them by providing activities that are naturally interesting and even better, fun. Dancing, helping in the garden, playing on monkey bars, mud puddles, tree climbing are just a few of many fun and encouraging activities providing a natural body and mental child progress.
In all of this, it is imperative to act as a role model and stay active yourself.
